Cornus alba, Dogwood
Cornus alba is a deciduous shrub, growing up to 3 m high. An easily grown plant, it succeeds in any soil of good or moderate fertility. It also tolerates full sun or light shade. Plants are hardy to about -25 degrees Celsius
Its very distinctive with its red stems on fall.
This Dogwood was part of row of Dogwoods in a small garden, right next to Tesco Store in Glossop. These red shrubs really contrast with the rest of the plants.
The soil is moist and well-drained and these shrubs are in very sunny position.

It has grey-green, white-margined narrowly ovate leaves 10cm in length.
Tiny flowers are borne in dense clusters, sometimes with showy bracts.
The flowers are hermaphrodite and small, creamy-white in colour in flat heads. Berries are also white in colour.
