Rubus fructicosus, Bramble
Rubus fructicosus
or Bramble is scrambling shrub that comprises hundreds of
microspecies.
This
bramble is crawling on the banks of the Fallowfield Loop. It is regularly
cleared throughout the loop but it has sturdy and invasive nature it returns
back very quickly. Lots of sunlight and well moist soil conditions and the
plant looks quite happy. There were also some leftovers from this year’s
fruits.
The Bramble
has arching stems with various shape of prickles which root when they touch the
ground. It flowers with white or pink flowers which are 2-3cm across, during
May to August. Bramble’s leaves are large palmately compound with 5-7 leaflets.
It produces the familiar blackberries.
