Anemone nemorosa, Wood anemone
Anemona
nemorosa or Wood Anemone is a perennial plant which forms large carpets on
suitable woodland floors.
This plant
is located on the Fallowfield Loop and although it’s not forming big carpet it
still grows very well on its own. It is located in a relatively shady place and
the soil underneath is well moist.
The plant
starts flowering soon after the foliage fully grows. The leaves are divided
into three segments, each segment been further divided. The flowers are
produced on short stems above the ground with one flower per stem. They are
usually white but sometimes they can be pinkish, lilac or blue and are
pollinated by insects.
