Choisya ternata, Mexican Orange Flower
Choisya is
an evergreen shrub which grows at a medium rate and can reach up to 3m by 3m in
size. The plant can be used in an informal hedges but also response very well
to clipping. This Choisya species is located in a church garden in Altrincham,
Manchester. It is no more than half a meter in height looks healthy, enjoying
plenty of sunlight. Interesting about this plant is that it can succeed equally
well in full sun or deep shade. Surrounded by other species like Cothoneaster
and hebe its function is mainly aesthetic but also to form a boundary. Once it
grows bigger it would fill a gap in the hedgerow forming the boundary of the
church garden. The garden faces a heavy traffic road which means that there is
air pollution in the area. And this Choisya responds very well to the
conditions and it doesn't look to be affected. The soil looks loamy and well
drained. Its flowers still has not opened but when they do they spread a pleasant fragrant smell.
