Hebe spp.
Hebe is
fast growing evergreen shrub which can reach 2m in height. It prefers position in
full sun and some shelter from cold winds. This Hebe is located in Media City
UK in Manchester. Compare to the other Hebe species around this one is left to
grow bigger and its main function is to create a boundary between a parking
space and street. The shrub does not like being pruned but is very easily transplanted.
Hebe is good for hedges but it tends to become leggy. This plant is also surrounded
by hard surface which means that it receives a lot of rain water and Hebes
thrive in well drained soils. This Hebe responds well to the air pollution by
the traffic in the area and also the run off. Apart from a small part of the
plant which looks to be cut this Hebe looks robust and healthy.
Its flowers have purple to dark purple colour in early spring.
Some dried flowers can still be seen here and there on the shrub.
